Zaporizhzhia National University is a higher education institution of the state ownership whose history spans almost 90 years. Back in the 1940s, it occupied one of the leading places among the pedagogical institutions of Ukraine and still remains the leader of educational services in Ukraine.

The structure of the university includes 18 faculties, Engineering Institute (established after Zaporizhzhia State Engineering Academy became part of the University), as well as several branches: the Kriviy Rih Faculty and the Faculty of Economics and Humanities in the city of Melitopol. The University comprises 4 colleges: College of Economics and Law, Trade College, Hydropower College, and Metallurgical College. Internationally, ZNU maintains partnerships with many higher education institutions outside Ukraine. To date, the number of ZNU agreements on international scientific cooperation between higher education institutions and research institutions is 77. New partners with which cooperation ZNU has established include Anhui Pedagogical University (People’s Republic of China), Narva College of Tartu University, University of Pitesti ( Romania), Kahramanmaraş University (Turkey), State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz (Poland). Students have the opportunity to participate in the international exchange programs ERASMUS +, MEVLANA, Fulbright Program and study at higher education institutions of France, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, USA, China. ZNU provides European educational integration for students through a double degree program under which undergraduates can simultaneously receive education and the second diploma of the University du Maine (France) and Polonia Academy (Polonia University of Czestochowa, Poland) and others.
ZNU gives the students numerous opportunities to take part in research. The Scientific Society of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Scientific Association provides support for student research.
Student Council and the Centre for Culture take care of student recreation and organize extracurricular activities and events.
Zaporizhzhia National University provides students with the facilities for comfortable study, accommodation and leisure. Priority area of research: study of cellular metabolism of zinc, magnesium and copper.

The department employs 11 people, of whom have a scientific degree of doctors of sciences — 2, academic title of professor — 2; candidates of sciences — 9, 8 of them are associate professors, 1 teacher. Doctors and PhDs make up 100% of the teaching staff of the department.
The decision to create the first specialized department, which would be responsible for the training of economic specialists, was made in 1989. It was at this time that Zaporizhzhya State University was at the stage of becoming a broad humanitarian university. The economy of the country required significant changes, which caused the need to train economists with university education.

Department of Economic Cybernetics
To date, the Department of Economic Cybernetics of Zaporizhzhya National University is a modern group of like-minded people, which has 3 Doctors of Sciences (Economic and Physical and Mathematical), 7 Candidates of Sciences (Economic and Physical and Mathematical), 1 Senior Lecturer, 3 graduate students.
One of the most important areas of activity of the Faculty of History is scientific work. Scientific research of the Faculty’s scientists is known in all corners of Ukraine, in many countries of the world.
The scholars of the Faculty of History have prepared 7 textbooks for secondary schools, three of which (from the history of Ukraine) have received the national status and the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Department of Source Studies, Historiography and Special Historical Disciplines
The department provides training of bachelors in the field of «History» (specialization «Archival Studies» and «Historiography, source studies and special historical disciplines») and masters in the specialties «Archival Studies» and «History». Employees and graduate students of the department are engaged in source studies, historiography, ethnology, oral history and gender studies.
The Faculty of Mathematics is one of the oldest faculties of the University. In the tradition of all classical universities of the world, the ZNU Mathematical Faculty provides students with a basic education in a wide range of subjects related to their chosen specialty.
Department of General Mathematics:
Graduation specialty of the department is «Mathematics» (bachelors, specialists, masters) in the specializations: «Algebra», «Geometry», as well as «Secondary education (mathematics)». There is a postgraduate course in deformable solid mechanics and geometry.
Department of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics information:
The department is graduating from the specialty «Applied mathematics» (specializations: «equation of mathematical physics» and «industrial mathematics») and provides reading of basic courses for the specialties «mathematics», «applied mathematics», «physics», as well as special courses of specialization. Teachers of the department manage coursework and diploma works, production projects of students who specialize in the department.
The Faculty of Journalism cooperates with higher educational establishments and centers of vocational training of Ukraine, Poland, France, the United States of America — all over 100 well-known universities and media centers. Close ties have been established with Florida State University, Washington Public Radio.
The Department of Publishing and Editing was created as a base for the training of specialists in the new direction of preparation «Publishing and Editing» in 2004.
The department provides the development of the theory of editing, printing, text and training of editors-specialists for work in publishing houses and printing centers on the basis of modern information and publishing technologies.
Department of Journalism main information:
The Department of Journalism (in the past — journalism, advertising, and public relations) was established in 2002. There are two laboratories in the department: «Training journal of television journalism» and «Educational laboratory of Internet radio» University «and the latest media».
The Faculty of Foreign Philology is one of the leading centers of national scientific thought. Under the guidance of experienced, talented specialists (professors, candidates of sciences), scientific intelligence is carried out on a wide range of contemporary, relevant philological studies. There are 3 scientific-methodical centers, more than 10 scientific circles and creative groups of students at the Faculty.
Teaching staff of the department: 14 teachers. Of these, there are 3 Doctors of Sciences, 9 Candidates of Philology and 1 Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, 1 Senior Lecturer.
The department of teaching the second foreign language is by far the most numerous department of the Faculty of Foreign Philology. A distinctive feature of the department is the optimal ratio of teachers with extensive experience and young teachers.
Today, the department of teaching a second foreign language is 18 full-time teachers and 8 part-time teachers. Among them there are 11 teachers with a candidate degree.
It is one of the largest departments of the institute, which provided foreign language teaching for all non-specialized faculties. At present there are 7 associate professors, 1 senior lecturer, 13 lecturers, 4 part-timers.
Department of German Philology and Translation:
The department got its modern name in 2008. Today the department prepares about 120 students. There are currently 14 teachers working at the department, including 9 candidates of philological sciences.
During the Department of Translation Theory and Practice, 26 monographs, 22 textbooks were published, including 8 with the MES stamp, more than 800 scientific articles were published in professional journals of Ukraine, 23 articles in foreign scientific publications, 2 doctoral theses and 27 PhD theses were defended. prepared for the defense of 2 doctoral theses and 5 PhD theses, held 6 International scientific conferences, published 19 professional collections of scientific works «New Philology», prepared more than 250 reports of students at various conferences x levels.

During the 22 years of existence of the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology of Zaporizhzhya National University, more than 2.5 thousand specialists in social pedagogy and psychology have been trained and released, making a significant contribution to the development of the theory and practice of the new generation of science — social pedagogy, social work, psychology and psychology.
Despite the rather young age, the department has its own achievements: 25 scientific-methodical works (of which 2 monographs, 4 manuals under the MES stamp) are published, almost all teachers participate in international, all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences, symposia, seminars. Established on September 1, 2001, the Faculty of Sociology and Management is one of the youngest in the structure of Zaporizhzhya National University, a leading regional center for fundamental classical training of sociologists, political scientists, social workers, philosophers and civil servants.

In addition, the department is taught by specialists from other faculties and universities, which allows future sociologists to gain knowledge in many areas of life.

The Faculty of Physical Education was founded in 1968.
